LUCKNOW: Setting the stage for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced on Sunday that his party is open to collaborating with any political group aiming to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from securing a third consecutive term in the state.

Speaking to media persons, Owaisi stressed that no single party possesses the political weight to take on the ruling BJP independently. He issued an open invitation to regional and national opposition parties for dialogue, emphasizing a collective approach.

"We do not want the BJP government to be formed for a third time in Uttar Pradesh. If anyone does not want the BJP to form the government, they can talk to us. We are ready to work with you to stop the BJP from coming to power. But it is important to understand that you cannot stop the BJP alone," Owaisi stated.

Recalling past experiences, Owaisi pointed to the Bihar assembly elections, where AIMIM had reached out to various opposition groups—including the RJD, Congress, and Left parties—asking for a modest seat-sharing arrangement of six seats, which ultimately did not materialize.

Despite uncertainties regarding a formal grand alliance in UP, Owaisi maintained that AIMIM's grassroots organization is expanding strongly through extensive ground connectivity. He noted that regardless of alliance outcomes, the party's campaign and outreach will proceed full-steam ahead. "Whether we are in talks with whom or not is a different matter, but we will continue our work," he added.

Owaisi also took sharp aim at both the incumbent BJP administration and the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) government. Criticizing SP chief Akhilesh Yadav over historical law-and-order issues like the Muzaffarnagar riots, Owaisi questioned the actual socio-economic and political representation delivered to marginalized communities under successive regimes. He further targeted the Yogi Adityanath-led government over governance shortcomings, unfulfilled electoral promises, land disputes, and electricity issues.

Describing the upcoming 2027 electoral battle as unique and distinct from previous cycles, Owaisi said AIMIM is currently touring multiple constituencies—including Kanpur, Shravasti, and Azamgarh—to listen to ground-level grievances and strengthen party cadre.
