AICHI-NAGOYA — India’s impressive medal charge at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 continued on Monday as the sharp-shooting trio of Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane, and Himanshu Dhillon clinched a commendable silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle team event.

The Indian squad put up a stellar collective performance at the ranges, aggregating a total score of 1890.1. While the Indian marksmen displayed brilliant composure and precision, powerhouse China clinched the gold medal with a formidable score of 1899.0. Meanwhile, South Korea secured the bronze medal, finishing with 1841.4 points.

This latest podium finish marks India's third medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, maintaining a unique pattern with all three medals coming as silvers from the shooting disciplines so far.

The team event final also doubled as the individual qualification round. Rudrankksh Patil led the charge for India internally, finishing the qualification phase in third place with an impressive score of 631.8. Himanshu Dhillon followed closely, securing the seventh position with a total of 630.0, while Parth Mane finished 11th with a score of 628.3. Courtesy of their strong standings, both Rudrankksh and Himanshu successfully advanced to the individual final scheduled for later in the day.

Reflecting the depth of India's squad, the trio displayed grit through all six series of the qualification and team round. Rudrankksh consistently built his score up from an opening series of 104.2 to close strongly at 631.8. Himanshu recovered quickly from a steady start to finish with 630.0, while Parth contributed a solid 628.3 to ensure the team secured their second-place standing.

This silver builds on the strong foundation laid on Sunday during the opening full day of competitions, where the women’s 10m air rifle contingent opened India's account. Elavenil Valarivan bagged a silver in the individual category, before teaming up with Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa Kochalumkal Vinod to secure another silver in the women's team event.

With the shooters setting a high benchmark early in the multi-sport extravaganza, the Indian contingent will look to convert these podium finishes into gold as the events progress across various disciplines in Japan.
