CASCAIS, Portugal — Football superstar
The private nuptials capped a decade-long romance that has captivated sports and entertainment fans worldwide, ending weeks of feverish speculation across European media regarding when and where the couple would tie the knot.
Representatives for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner confirmed the news on Tuesday, revealing that the couple exchanged vows surrounded by their five children and close family members. The ceremony took place exactly one year after Rodriguez announced the couple's engagement.
Ronaldo, 41, shared a subtle announcement on his official Instagram account, posting a photo displaying the couple's hands with wedding bands alongside a simple caption: "C ❤️ G".
A Private Affair Away from Media Frenzy
Leading up to the wedding, Portuguese outlets had speculated that the high-profile union might take place at Ronaldo’s birthplace in Funchal, Madeira, or at a palace in historic Sintra. The rumors in Madeira drew hundreds of fans to the local cathedral over the weekend in hopes of catching a glimpse of the superstar couple, though local officials confirmed at the time that no service had been scheduled.
Instead, the couple opted for privacy at their estate in Cascais, an exclusive coastal enclave located roughly 19 miles (30 kilometers) west of Lisbon.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez first met in 2016 at a Gucci boutique in Madrid where Rodriguez worked as a sales assistant. Rodriguez has frequently described their initial meeting as "love at first sight," recalling in a 2025 interview with Vogue Arabia an immediate sense of peace and familiarity when meeting the football icon.
Global Brand and Media Presence
Over the past decade, the pair have built one of the world's most recognizable celebrity partnerships, boasting a combined social media following exceeding 750 million. Beyond Ronaldo’s illustrious football career—spanning historic stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, as well as his current role at Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr—the couple has established an extensive business empire encompassing fashion lines, hospitality brands, and media ventures.
Rodriguez, 32, further elevated her profile through the hit Netflix docuseries I Am Georgina, which offers viewers an inside look at the family’s global lifestyle.
Following Portugal's campaign at the World Cup earlier this summer, Ronaldo returns to his domestic season with Al Nassr as a newly married man, marking a new chapter in both his personal and professional life.
