REWA (MADHYA PRADESH): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament from Rewa, Janardan Mishra, known for making headline-grabbing public statements, has triggered a fresh political row over his defense of the Union government's ethanol-blending fuel policy.
Speaking at a public event organized to mark the expansion of air connectivity from Rewa to Bhopal and Kolkata, the parliamentarian lashed out at critics opposing the rollout of E20 petrol across the country. Addressing the gathering, Mishra aggressively questioned opponents of the ethanol policy, asking, "Will pure petrol come from your father's house?"
Import Dependency and National Self-Reliance
Mishra defended the government's strategy by highlighting India's energy economics, noting that the nation currently produces only 20% of its required crude oil, relying on foreign imports for the remaining 80%.
"If ethanol is not produced and blended, where will petrol and diesel come from?" Mishra asked. Pointing to global precedents, the Rewa MP cited Brazil as a model country where automobiles run smoothly on 100% ethanol due to high domestic production, arguing that ethanol-blended fuel poses no harm to vehicles.
Focus on Aviation Growth and Governance
Beyond energy policy, Mishra touted the rapid development of Rewa's infrastructure, particularly highlighting the expansion of local aviation services. He noted that flights connecting Rewa to major metropolitan hubs, including Chennai and Madras, are set to begin in the near future.
Attributing the momentum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance, Mishra claimed that India now ranks third globally in the aviation sector and predicted that the country would soon lead the world in passenger volume and aircraft count. He further asserted that India maintains lower inflation rates and higher job creation compared to global peers as it moves steadily toward economic self-reliance.
