NOIDA — A 40-year-old senior official serving as a director in the Lok Sabha Secretariat allegedly died by suicide at his residential apartment in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Local police officials confirmed the development on Wednesday after retrieving a purported suicide note from the scene that mentions financial strain related to an outstanding loan.
The deceased has been identified as Gaurav Gautam, who resided in the Kendriya Vihar-II housing society located in Noida’s Sector 82.
According to officials from the Phase-2 Police Station, the incident came to light on Sunday after the police received a medico-legal memo from a nearby private hospital where Gautam had been brought for emergency treatment. Attending doctors at the facility declared him brought dead upon arrival.
Sequence of Events
Investigators stated that Gautam's wife had briefly traveled to her parental home prior to the incident. Upon her return to the Sector 82 apartment, she discovered that the front door was locked from the inside. Sensing that something was amiss after getting no response, she sought assistance from a society security officer to gain entry into the residence.
Upon entering the apartment, she found Gautam hanging from a ceiling fan. With the help of neighbors and security personnel, he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical staff confirmed he had already passed away.
Investigation and Forensic Analysis
A team of local police officers alongside forensic experts inspected the premises shortly after receiving the report. Evidence was gathered from the flat, and inquest proceedings were completed before sending the body for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause and timing of death.
