NEW DELHI — Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to undertake a major visit to Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to unveil a suite of infrastructure, energy, and cultural projects designed to propel regional growth and technological self-reliance.

Unveiling the Greenfield Bhogapuram Airport

The central highlight of the Andhra Pradesh leg is the inauguration of the greenfield Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. Built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with an investment exceeding ₹5,640 crore, the state-of-the-art facility is engineered to accommodate 6 million passengers annually.

According to official updates reported by ETV Bharat, the airport integrates next-generation smart airport operations—such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Building Information Modelling (BIM), biometric passenger processing, and automated baggage handling. Architectural elements draw deep inspiration from Andhra Pradesh's local heritage; the terminal's roof echoes traditional Chuttilu cottages and Araku Valley landscapes, while its aerodynamic contours mirror a flying fish. Built to Green Building Standards and registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the facility incorporates a 5 MW solar plant, rainwater harvesting systems, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Boosting Tech, Energy, and Highways in Andhra Pradesh

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for Andhra Pradesh's first semiconductor assembly and testing facility—the ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam. Developed by ASIP Technologies in collaboration with South Korea's APACT at a cost of over ₹460 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission, the plant aims to manufacture nearly 96 million semiconductor chips annually.

Further bolstering energy security, the Prime Minister will launch and lay foundation stones for renewable energy transmission projects worth thousands of crores, including:

  • Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (Phase-I): Foundation stone for a 4.5 GW transmission system valued at ₹5,550 crore, implemented by POWERGRID.

  • Kurnool Wind/Solar Zone: Inauguration of a transmission system built at approximately ₹3,550 crore.

  • Ananthapuram & Kurnool Solar Zones: Dedication of transmission schemes totaling 3,500 MW capacity, completed at over ₹820 crore.

Additionally, National Highway developments valued at over ₹1,880 crore will be dedicated or initiated, featuring greenfield access-controlled corridors on NH-365BG and bypass projects intended to decongest urban bottlenecks and streamline travel between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.

Honoring Youth and Heritage in Mysuru

Moving to Karnataka, PM Modi will head to Mysuru to dedicate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka) at the historic Niranjana Math in Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama. The center honors Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Mysuru in November 1892, prior to his address at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago.

Spanning more than 81,000 square feet, the newly developed complex features a 4-D Experience Centre, a 700-seat amphitheater, interactive exhibition space, classrooms, a yoga hall, and dedicated study facilities for competitive examination aspirants. The facility is set to empower over 10,000 local students and youth annually through values-based education, leadership workshops, and capacity-building programs.
