GLASGOW — National record holder Sarvesh Kushare etched his name into the track-and-field history books on Monday, becoming the first Indian athlete to win a silver medal in the men’s high jump event at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Adding to India's stellar campaign in Glasgow, para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar clinched a gold medal in the women’s shot put F57 event. Dhankar delivered a commanding performance, recording a season-best throw of 9.81 metres to dominate the field and claim top honors.
The F57 classification caters to field athletes competing with lower limb impairments, limb deficiencies, or reduced muscle power. Dhankar’s triumph further bolsters India’s growing footprint in international para-athletics, capping off a remarkable double-medal showing on the day for the Indian contingent.
