SURYAPET — A severe highway collision claimed at least six lives and left nearly 20 passengers injured in the early hours of Wednesday after a private travel bus rammed into the rear of a moving container truck in Telangana's Suryapet district.

around 4:30 AM and 5:00 AM near Dorakunta village in Kodad mandal. The private bus, carrying approximately 42 passengers, was traveling from Telangana toward Eluru in neighboring Andhra Pradesh when the driver lost control and crashed into the heavy vehicle ahead.

Impact from the collision smashed the front section of the bus, trapping several occupants inside the crushed cabin.

Locals and passing motorists alerted emergency services, following which police teams and fire personnel rushed to the scene to carry out rescue operations. Rescuers worked through the wreckage to pull out trapped victims and secure the area.

Around 20 injured passengers were immediately transferred to a nearby government hospital in Kodad for urgent medical care. Authorities noted that a few of the injured remain in critical condition.

Police have registered a case regarding the incident and initiated a formal investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash, including whether driver fatigue, high speed, or low visibility contributed to the collision.
