While the overall flood waters have begun receding in several areas, five districts—Sivasagar, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, and Charaideo—continue to bear the brunt of the deluge, impacting 17 revenue circles and 379 villages.
District-Wise Impact & Displacement
The total number of affected individuals across Assam now stands at 1,92,799, down from over two lakh across eight districts recorded earlier in the week.
Charaideo: Remains the most severely impacted region, with 77,456 residents facing displacement and property loss.
Sivasagar: The second hardest-hit district, accounting for 63,492 affected citizens.
Jorhat: Reports 34,067 people still dealing with inundated homes and farmland.
Relief and Rescue Operations Underway
To accommodate displaced families, local administrations have set up 54 active relief camps currently housing 12,994 people. An additional 26 relief distribution centers are operational, providing essential food rations and emergency items to 5,384 non-sheltered victims.
Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) remain deployed across vulnerable belts to distribute essential supplies and evacuate stranded residents.
Agricultural Loss and Infrastructure Damage
Beyond the human toll, the flooding has devastated regional agriculture. ASDMA reports indicate that 15,430 hectares of cropland remain completely submerged. Widespread destruction to public infrastructure—including breaches in river embankments, submerged connecting roads, and damaged residential structures—continues to hamper communication and normal life in Upper Assam.
