MUMBAI — Actor Kartik Aaryan has been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after suffering a severe knee injury during the filming of his upcoming sports drama directed by Kabir Khan.

The incident occurred during the final leg of the shoot in Mumbai, where the crew was executing high-intensity action sequences. Aaryan was rushed to Fortis Raheja Hospital in Mahim, where medical personnel evaluated his condition. Doctors have recommended knee surgery, which is expected to take place within 24 hours.

Injury During Final Stretch of Shooting

According to sources close to the production, the injury happened with just two days of shooting remaining on the schedule. The team was filming critical action scenes that required intense physical exertion. Aaryan had previously undergone extensive training under professional action coaches to prepare for the role.

Following the procedure, the actor will take a short break to recover before resuming work and fulfilling his upcoming promotional commitments.

A Special Project for Aaryan

The yet-to-be-titled film marks the second collaboration between Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan, following their 2024 sports biopic Chandu Champion, which earned Aaryan a National Film Award for Best Actor.

In the upcoming drama, Aaryan plays a kickboxing coach who mentors a young girl from Kashmir—a narrative inspired by real-life athlete Tajamul Islam. Filmed across Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir, the movie also marks a significant professional milestone for Aaryan as his debut project as a film producer under his banner, Dopamine Studios, which co-produces alongside Kabir Khan Films.

Looking Ahead

Despite the temporary setback, production is expected to wrap shortly after Aaryan completes his recovery. The actor also has a packed slate ahead, including Anurag Basu’s untitled romantic film alongside Sreeleela, as well as upcoming projects Naagzilla and Hansal Mehta's Captain India.
