NEW DELHI: Bollywood actress Sadia Khateeb is gearing up for an exciting new chapter in her cinematic journey with Silaa, an upcoming romantic-action drama. In an exclusive conversation, the actress opened up about her role, her transition across different film genres, and her memorable experiences working with some of the biggest names in the industry, including superstar Akshay Kumar.
Having made her impressive debut in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s critically acclaimed Shikara in 2020, Sadia shared that she still approaches every new project with the curiosity and humility of a student. "For me, wherever I go, whatever work I do, I do it like a student," she expressed, adding that she feels like a newborn baby constantly eager to learn what the world and cinema have to offer.
Over the years, Sadia has showcased her versatility by transitioning smoothly across diverse genres. Her filmography features a mix of intense and lighthearted roles, including the period drama Shikara, the family entertainer Raksha Bandhan, the political thriller The Diplomat, and the comedy-drama Daadi Ki Shaadi. Reflecting on her upcoming venture, she noted that tackling the romantic-action space with Silaa is another enriching learning experience.
The film Silaa pairs her alongside Harshvardhan Rane and is directed by Omung Kumar. Also featuring Karan Veer Mehra and Ipsitaa in pivotal roles, the movie has wrapped up its shooting phase—spanning scenic locations across Vietnam, Kashmir, and Mumbai—and is currently in post-production ahead of its anticipated release.
Looking back at her time working with Akshay Kumar in the 2022 family drama Raksha Bandhan, directed by Aanand L Rai, Sadia spoke warmly of the seasoned actor's exceptional craft and character. "He is a fab actor, and needless to say that," she said, expressing deep admiration. "We have seen his work since childhood. But more importantly, he is the best human being."
Beyond her professional milestones, Sadia also touched upon her deep-rooted connection to Jammu and Kashmir, recalling her experiences at regional film events and highlighting how crucial such creative platforms are for boosting local talent, tourism, and infrastructure.
