NEW DELHI: Tragedy struck East Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar area on Sunday morning after a 30-year-old man lost his life following a mysterious fall from a building rooftop. Authorities have launched an intensive investigation to determine whether the incident was a tragic accident or a case of foul play.

According to the Delhi Police, a distress call was received at approximately 5:20 AM, reporting that a man was lying injured on the street in Namdev Gali within the Gandhi Nagar police station jurisdiction. Responding officers rushed to the scene and found the victim with severe head bleeding and multiple visible injury marks on his body. He was subsequently declared dead at the scene.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, senior officials summoned a specialized crime branch team and a forensic science team to inspect the area, conduct a panchnama, and collect vital evidence. The body was later shifted to a government hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause and timeline of death.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak, a 30-year-old married man who originally hailed from Pipla village in Bihar’s Kishanganj district. Local inquiries revealed that Deepak had been living in Delhi for the past two years and was working at a local garment factory situated in Gandhi Nagar.

Investigators are currently piecing together the timeline of events leading up to the tragedy, questioning local residents, reviewing nearby CCTV camera footage, and trying to establish why the young man was on the roof during the early morning hours.

Shahdara Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) R.P. Meena stated that all potential angles are being actively examined. "We are investigating whether the young man slipped and fell accidentally or if someone pushed him off the roof," police noted. Further legal proceedings will heavily rely on the findings of the final autopsy report and forensic evaluations.
