NEW DELHI — Tensions ran high in Northeast Delhi’s Jafrabad area on Sunday night after a 19-year-old youth was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by his co-worker inside a manufacturing unit.
The deceased has been identified as Sahil, a native of Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh and son of Faheem.
The violent altercation unfolded late Sunday night around 10:15 PM when a heated confrontation reportedly escalated between Sahil and a fellow factory worker.
Local residents and coworkers rushed the severely injured youth to Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital in Shastri Park, where attending doctors declared him brought dead.
The Jafrabad police station received a formal alert from the hospital authorities shortly after the victim arrived.
"We received a call from JPC Hospital informing us that a youth with multiple stab wounds was brought to the casualty ward, where he was declared dead on arrival," said DCP Rahul Alwal. "Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim was attacked inside the factory by a colleague following a dispute. A case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at the Jafrabad police station."
Police have seized CCTV footage from nearby establishments and interrogated other factory staff to confirm the exact sequence of events leading up to the attack. Multiple police units have been formed to track down and arrest the suspect, who remains at large.
Sahil's body has been preserved in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination, and his family in Amroha has been notified.
