MUMBAI — Four faculty members at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay have been awarded the prestigious J.C. Bose Grant Fellowship by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) in recognition of their outstanding contributions to engineering and chemical sciences.
The awardees—Prof. Dipankar Choudhury, Prof. Ruchi Anand, Prof. M. Ravikant, and Prof. Debabrata Maiti—have spearheaded research initiatives with immediate real-world applications ranging from structural safety and disaster mitigation to life-saving medical therapeutics.
Breakthroughs in Earthquake Engineering and Healthcare
Renowned earthquake engineer Prof. Dipankar Choudhury was selected for his pioneering work on resilient infrastructure design. His research focuses on developing building frameworks capable of enduring high-intensity seismic events, significantly mitigating risks during natural disasters.
In the realm of biological sciences and medicine, Prof. Ruchi Anand’s work addresses the growing global crisis of antimicrobial resistance. Meanwhile, Prof. M. Ravikant and Prof. Debabrata Maiti received honors for their transformative developments in modern organic and inorganic chemistry.
